So last Wednesday we unplugged. We unplugged from all computers and t.v's and even our phones. I'm not gonna lie, it was hard. It was hardest for our two daughters {12 and 14}, but bless their hearts, they did it with minimal whining. We rented a cabin in Tennessee in southern Appalachian territory at Roan Mountain. One word- breathtaking.

I prayed for snow and right on cue, there was snow. The cabin was picturesque and nestled among pines and hardwoods with an icy stream meandering through the property.

I fear that all of our technology pulls us apart from one another. I worry that I'm not connected enough to my own people, these little ones that God has blessed me with. So away we went, to huddle close to our own and re-connect with all that's important. To read by candlelight and play lots of board games and take walks in the snow, and appreciate the wonders of the world around us.

We laughed more and cuddled longer. We sat fireside in woolly socks and ate way too much chocolate. It was all kinds of awesome!
