The Week Of Daycations {the FREE way to have fun}

O.K., I'm sure you've heard of 'vacations', and the newer 'staycations', but how about the 'daycation'? If you've been around this blog long, you know that we are a one income family and that has meant learning how to live well on less, sometimes waaaaay less than other folks! We also homeschool our kiddos and that gives us the opportunity to have fun WHENEVER possible. Last week, my husband took some much needed time off from work- the WHOLE week y'all!! I knew that a traditional vacation was not in the cards for us because we are saving big time for THIS, but we just had to have some fun. Enter the week of 'Daycations'! In case you haven't figured it out yet, a daycation is an entire day of free fun away from home. Sort of like a vacation just minus the stress of the spending, packing and gas buying! A daycation is all that's good about a vacation but not any of the stressful stuff! I don't know about you, I mean I love a good vacation and all, but I usually come home feeling like I need, well..... A Vacation! Vacations can be exhausting!

Here's how our daycations looked: Number One:  A Day At The Lake

And then, the week wasn't over, we were off on a mountainous hike.

Daycation Number 2: Hiking

And to wrap up the hike..... a campfire and s'mores! We had an amazing week! Stress free and on the cheap! Just because you can't go on some fancy vacation doesn't mean that you are stuck at home. We thrive on one income by thinking a little outside the box sometimes! You can too! Don't let no money leave you with no fun. Do a little research and find some cool areas locally that you don't usually frequent and plan a daycation there. Now, that's your homework y'all, get out there and find some free fun for your family. You can thank me later!

  1. I love your suggestion of a "daycation" - so practical, but smart! Why not enjoy what your local area has to offer? Sometimes we take for granted the things that we have the easiest access to. I enjoyed your beautiful pictures - it looks like your family had a great time!
